Technical measurement and digital reconstruction

As part of the development of a new outdoor folding chair for GUBI, based on an original design by Greta Grossman, I have been responsible for precise measurement and digitization of the product. The work was based on original drawings and physical references, resulting in a fully built CAD model, which formed a technical foundation for further construction work. The CAD model ensured that the design's aesthetic expression was preserved, while also integrating the technical requirements for outdoor use in the early stages of the project.

Construction, assembly solutions, and strength calculations

I have developed a durable and production-ready solution for the chair's assembly principle, with a special focus on functionality, aesthetics, and ease of assembly. Along the way, several iterations of the construction were worked on to optimize both strength and material consumption, without compromising the design's intention. To ensure that the chair meets the requirements for public use, detailed FEM calculations were carried out in accordance with EN 16139 Level 2. These included simulation of load scenarios and subsequent dimensioning of the chair's steel tubes, so that the construction can withstand prolonged use in demanding outdoor environments.
